MIAMI, Fla. — Miami-Dade County Commission Vice Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa joined three of her fellow commissioners on Thursday and endorsed Omar Blanco in the Congressional District 26 Republican Primary.

“Omar Blanco’s leadership and passion for our community will allow him to have an immediate impact for District 26 in Washington,” Vice Chairwoman Sosa said. “I am proud to endorse Omar for Congress and look forward to rallying support for him on the campaign trail.”

Vice Chairwoman Sosa is the fourth Miami-Dade County Commissioner to endorse Blanco. Florida State Sen. Anitere Flores also endorsed Blanco.

“The continued support and friendship from Vice Chairwoman Sosa is humbling. I am proud to have her endorsement for my campaign,” Blanco said.

Sosa is also the Miami-Dade County Commission’s Vice Chairwoman. She represents District 6 and was first elected in June 2001. She has been re-elected five times, most recently in 2018. In November 2012, Sosa was elected by her colleagues as Chairwoman of the County Commission and served a two-year term. During her stint as the Chairwoman, she was known to bring government closer to the people.

Vice Chairwoman Sosa’s district includes the City of Miami, Coral Gables, West Miami, Hialeah and Miami Springs, and the unincorporated communities of Schenley Park, Coral Villas, Red Bird, Coral Terrace, Little Gables, the Waterways and Fontainebleau.
